My grandmother is 84 years old. We are moving her to our town this weekend. Last Friday my mom, kids and I went to her house to start packing. When we left one of the toilets was clogged, but we didn't have a plunger so we left it to fix when we came back on Monday. We went back on Monday and fixed the problem.
Today, I took my wet laundry to my mom's house to dry and I heard the tail end of a message from a very frantic Grandmother. I called my mom to let her know that Grandma called to say her water was running and wouldn't shut off. I pictured her toilet over flowing and water, water everywhere.
Mom called and my Grandmother said that the toilet wasn't overflowing, but that there was water running and she couldn't find where it was. Hazel, a neighbor came over and couldn't find it either. By this time my Grandmother was in the crawl space under the house. Finally, my mom called my Dad's father to go and see if he could find it. Now, you have to understand that my 84 year old Grandmother wears hearing aids sometimes and my Grandfather wears his sometimes also. I am not sure about Hazel. So we have three senior citizens, two of which can't hear very well trying to find water that is running. My grandfather looked in the bathroom and then went under the house into the crawl space. He couldn't find any water anywhere. Finally He decided it must be the fan in the bathroom. Sure enough, he shut off the fan switch and the water stopped. We were just thankful that someone figured out where the water was coming from, who would have thought a fan ;-)
